About "What's Free" Song

"What's Free" is a Hip-Hop/Rap song by Hip hop singer "Meek Mill" featuring JAY-Z & Rick Ross from the studio album "Championships". This song's duration is (6:02 min) and available in digital mp3 download and streaming format on Apple Music/iTunes & Amazon Music.

The song What's Free is written by Carlos "6 July" Broady, Nashiem Myrick, Tarik Azzouz, STREETRUNNER, Rick Ross, JAY-Z & Meek Mill, produced by STREETRUNNER & Tarik Azzouz and was released in November 30, 2018.

"What's Free" is a collaboration between Meek Mill, close affiliate and Maybach Music Group founder Rick Ross, Jay-Z. Meek has also revealed that this is his favorite song on Championships. The track samples the late Notorious B.I.G.'s "What's Beef?"
Verse one finds Rick Ross rapping about his longevity and commenting on the 2018 arrest of rapper 6ix9ine. On verse two Meek raps about his battle with the judicial system, and shouts out his billionaire friends Michael Rubin and Robert Kraft. Verse three features JAY-Z boasting about his business acquisitions as a sign of black excellence, while addressing black enslavement and injustice.
The subject of freedom is especially important to Meek Mill, who was imprisoned in 2017 and has been on probation for much of his adult life. He fought the inaccuracies and errors in the law, his process, probation, and imprisonment. On April 24, 2018, he was released pending the outcome of the appeal to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Rick Ross was said to be the original lead artist on the song, but he gave it to Meek Mill according to Mal from Episode 201 of The Joe Budden Podcast.
Meek and Jay-Z were featured together on DJ Khaled's "They Don't Love You No More". Notably, on "Stay Woke", Meek revealed a convo he had with Hov asking if he could get a verse from him:
When I talked to Em and Hov, they said, "I'm proud of you
You stood tall back when everyone doubted you"
My reply is, "I did what I gotta do
And I need that verse 'fore you retire too"
Jay Z and Rick Ross are known collaborators. Probably their most popular collaboration is "F**kWithMeYouKnowIGotIt" off Jay Z's "Magna Carta Holy Grail". Besides that, Hova was multiple times featured on Rozay's tracks, like "3 Kings", "The Devil Is a Lie", "Free Mason", and others. They were both featured on tracks by Kanye West on "Monster" or DJ Khaled on "They Don't Love You No More"
